About us

An independent lab for VPN testing.

We test every VPN we cover on the same hardware, against the same probes, on the same schedule. No marketing claims taken at face value.

Our story

Why VpnTrackr exists.

The VPN comparison space is full of recycled affiliate copy. We wanted a ranking we could trust — so we built the lab to produce one.

Most “best VPN” lists are reverse-engineered from commission rates. The provider paying the highest payout becomes the top pick; the rest get shuffled around until the page reads plausibly. The reader has no way to tell.

VpnTrackr was started to do the opposite. We test claims, not products. Every provider goes through the same rig — same hardware, same five-city panel, same probes for kill-switch failure, DNS leaks, and streaming unblock. The output is a score, and the score determines the ranking.

The lab is public. The rubric is public. The raw data behind our 2026 speed report is downloadable. If a provider disputes a score, they can reproduce the test and we will publish the new measurements alongside the old.

We are small on purpose. A two-person editorial team with a rotating roster of outside contributors keeps overhead low enough that we never have to chase the next-highest payout to keep the lights on.

How we test

The methodology is open.

Every probe, every weight, every assumption — documented in detail. You should be able to reproduce our scores from our published data.
